MHI “Мladost” is a central national institution focused on mental health, growth of peers and development of children and young people. The Institute for Mental Health of Children and Youth “Mladost” Skopje was founded in 1958 under the name “Medical Pedagogical Counseling” and since 1974 it has been operating as an Institute until today. Since its foundation to date, the Office has envisaged the development of trends in modern medicine and patients’ needs in a dynamic environment and currently functions as the only diagnostic center for autism. It also provides family and individual therapy, conducts categorizations, court expertise and other activities, based on an interdisciplinary approach, in order to improve the mental health and overall psycho-physical well-being of individuals. With its core activity – the protection and promotion of the mental health of children and young people – it carries out primary and secondary health care for children from the earliest age, pre-school children, school children, teenagers up to 26 years with their families. With the multidisciplinary team consisting of doctors specialists and various profiles of health care associates, this institution is the only one of its kind in the Republic of Macedonia. Here, our patients receive early diagnosis and early treatment and rehabilitation of conditions and difficulties that deviate from the expected physiological development for a specific calendar age in children, especially for children with autism and other widespread disorders.

The Institute functions as an OU within the Health Center in the City of Skopje. The professional work is organized in organizational units, respectively in units as separate parts of the process.

MENTAL HEALTH PROTECTION DIVISION

The categorization and classification of persons with mental retardation and autism is done in this unit by arranging an appointment electronically (using “My Term”) with the personal doctor.

– Commission for classification of children / individuals with visual impairments – blind / poor eyesight

In the structure of MHI “Mladost” there is a cytogenetic laboratory with medical-genetic counseling where recognized methods for improvement are implemented, the study and the introduction of new methods reveal the numerical and structural deviations of the blood chromosomes, diagnosing and prevention of psychological and physical disability.

Preparations for the introduction and application of the FICH methodology are in process for which we have complete laboratory equipment. Persons who have a mental disability or who have serious hereditary disorders in the family, according to the Marriage Law, can only marry after a cytogenetic analysis at this institution. In daily activities related to daily work, the office operates according to the following laws:

This Institute’s function enables early diagnosis, treatment, treatment and rehabilitation of mental health problems for children and young people by offering more advanced and more professional work in the field of mental health and conditions for further improvement, development and further expansion of this kind of health care.

– Performs preventive checks;- Examines the medical documentation of a newborn child, juvenile and minor preschool; checks the medical history; – Examines the systems and assesses the child’s health and the psycho-physical condition;- Provides specialist opinions upon the request of general medicine doctors or specialists from different fields; – Examines the systems and assesses the health of the child and the psycho-physical condition;- Performs examinations for the registration of children in educational institutions; Participates in the scientific research work organized in the Department of Specialization of the OU, in its field of specialization, in the organization and implementation of expert supervision and participates in the work of committees for the placement of persons with disabilities in psychic development, autism, blind persons mental retardation; – detects, diagnoses, treats and monitors children with febrile convulsions, treats them and performs EEG examination;- keeps the medical documentation described, records and prepares the work report;- Cooperates with family doctors, patronage services and other services at the OU and beyond; Cooperates and actively participates in expert and other meetings and publishes expert documents;- Gets informed on the updates on pediatrics;-Preserves the interpersonal professional relationship with the employees in the OU, respecting the dignity, reputation and honor of other employees in accordance with the positive position; – It is managed by the cytogenetic laboratory and the medical-genetic counseling center

 

 

Doctor of general medicine – specialist, pediatrician , neurologist

 

 

–  Accepts the patient and performs first examination and specialistic controll on her field, and, if necessary, uses opinions and analyzes from other specialist service consultancy branches,- Provides an opinion / report and describes proper therapy and uses appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures,-interprets EEG records,- If need emerges, directs patients to terciary health care,- Prepares work plan and as appropriate suggests medical tools such as introducing new diagnostic procedures,- Ensures the proper maintenance of documentation and proper medical records,- Ensures timely and orderly preparation of reports on health services performed,- Verify with your signature and fax, statistical and other reports prepared by the nurse,- Preserves the interpersonal professional relationships with the employees in the service respecting their dignity, reputation and honor.

 

Doctor of medicine – specialist , psychiatrist

 Works independently;

– Leads the team and coordinates the work of experts in early diagnosis and treatment of pre-school children with problems (autism, Dawn syndrome, mental retardation, tics etc.);

-School children (emotional problems, school phobia, difficulties in coping with school problems and hyperkinetic disorders);

-Teenagers and young people (depressed anxiety states, teenage crises, addiction diseases …) heals adolescents with neurotic, pre psychotic and psychotic disorders, with difficulties in adapting their family or social environment, young people with antisocial behavior,

– Cooperates with the Center for Social Work and helps in situations of domestic violence and marital crises – Judicial Expertise;

– the categorization of individuals with mental developmental obstacles;

– Personal education and education of teachers and pedagogues in the educational system to work with children with special needs and involve them;

-It treats various personality disorders, marginalized personalities, suicide problem and suicide attempts at adolescent age, as well as addictions and those who suffer from other addictions,

– individual and group therapeutic procedures, works with the family;

-maintain interpersonal professional relationships with the employees of the Department with respect to the dignity, reputation and honor of other employees in accordance with the positive regulations

Doctor of Dentistry – Specialist

– Ensures the required conditions and prepares the requests for the supply of materials suitable for performing mechanisms in the field of dentistry,

-Takes care of  the accuracy of the dental machine and the sterilization of instruments and materials,

-Application of modern methods of diagnosis and therapy,

– Undertakes measures for safe keeping of working tools and for their use in practice,

-Takes measures and is responsible for the safe storage of consumption, instruments and data on their consumption,

-Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures,

-Performs preventive dental care by applying preventative methods, systematic preventive examinations,

-Establishes interpersonal professional relationships with service employees by respecting the dignity, reputation and the honor of other employees.

Health Associate – Psychologist , Specialist of Medical Psychology

-The center, in its practice, the specialist of medical psychology focuses on carrying out a psychological assessment, carrying out psychological interventions and psychotherapy.

-In his work he uses a systematic approach, which means working with the identified patient (children, young people) in the context of ego-space and his family.

-Evaluates and implements appropriate therapeutic procedures for children and young people with anxiety, emotional, psychotic and widespread disorders as well as personality disorders, while providing appropriate interventions and counseling for parents and other members as needed.

– Participates in the assessment of children with developmental psychomotor, linguistic disorders, regarding their psychosocial and emotional development, children with problems in the school curriculum,

Skills, children with disorders and emotions of behavior, and counseling of their parents.

– Includes the work of commissions for the deployment of persons with disabilities in psycho-physical development;

– Engages in research, teaching, counseling, forensic expertise and development of programs and projects for improving the mental health of children and young people and participating in the education of personnel from relevant fields;

– participates fully in multidisciplinary team work with his independent opinion in the field of diagnosis and treatment of patients,

– Participates in the work of committees for the deployment of persons with disabilities in the development of psychologist, autism, blind person / with a completely independent opinion,

– Individually prepares and provides medical documentation from the aforementioned commissions – diagnosis and opinion on the deployment of persons with developmental disabilities with parent / guardian interpretative assistance for родителот / старателот for further social referral and protection of patient rights in accordance with legislation, where special evidence is also provided for people with developmental disabilities.

-Individually prepares medical documentation from the aforementioned commissions

– independently controls and coordinates therapeutic and social protection measures and continuous care for children / persons with intellectual disabilities, autism, blind people and poor eyesight and motivates parents for the treatment and admission of children with disabilities in their families,

-Depending on the need, students receive practical tuition, education in collaboration with the Faculty of Philosophy; prepares lectures from his or her field of work.

– Performs pedagogical diagnosis of children with school failures, adaptation problems, behavioral changes through the assessment of the level of knowledge and early school skills, efficiency and ability to learn,

– Performs an interview with parents-caregivers in order to discover the etiologic factors for school failure and other learning-related problems and advise on improving school success

 -Independently evaluates pre-earned knowledge as well as the emotional and social maturity of children to start school,

– Participates in multidisciplinary teamwork with his independent opinion,

independently applies tests to detect and diagnose specific difficulties in reading, writing and computing,

– independently performs the individual corrective treatment of children with learning difficulties in reading and writing,

– Independently carries out individual correctional treatment for children with specific difficulties in reading and writing (dyslexia and disortography),

-Independently performs individual and group correctional treatment for children with difficulty in calculating

– Collaborates with pedagogical-psychological services in schools, accepts students for practical teaching, if necessary, prepares lectures from his / her field of work.

Health Care Assistant– Graduated Psychologist

-He works on the diagnosis and therapy of children with disorders in psychological development,

– Perform diagnostics and therapy of disorders in relationships and emotions that begin in childhood and adolescence,

– Perform treatments for stress-related disorders and conditions in times of crisis,

– Treats psychosomatic disorders and their impact on the somatic diseases and emotional health of the individual,

– Takes part in working with children and young people and their families at the request of other institutions (Center for Social Work, Schools and others) and prepares a statement and opinion on their needs,

-Perform counseling, therapeutic interventions and psychotherapy for children, adolescents and, if necessary, their parents,

– Participates in system-based therapeutic interventions in children and adolescents under psychopathological conditions as well as reaction of dysfunctional family relationships

– Participates in the preparation of expert reports,

Cooperates with other members of the expert team, as well as with other professional institutions,

– Intra-personal professional relationships are maintained with the employees, respecting the dignity, reputation and the honor of other employees.

 

Health Assistant –  Speech Therapist

– Performs the speech logopedic diagnosis of verbal communication disorders (voice, speech, language, lexical and hearing difficulties) from the aspect of understanding the utterances of children and young people, and prepares a written opinion for each individual patient.

-Finds methods for removing difficulties in verbal communication in some patients or gives an opinion on the onset of speech therapy,

-Programs and implements individual and group therapy regeneration,

-Creates a journal and keeps track of the course of work, problem and results achieved,

-Performs appropriate therapeutic work with parents or close family members of patients,

– Cooperates with other members of the professional team, as well as with other professional institutions, preschools, schools and so on.

-Prepares a plan and a report for his work and submit it to the competent service,

– Intra-personal professional relationships are maintained with the employees, respecting the dignity, reputation and the honor of other employees.

Health Worker – Nurse

-Operates with medical equipment placed in the cabinet for border cases and EEG,

-Preparation of the patient for the recording and treatment of the EEG device, calibration and patient registration,

– Helps the doctor in the implementation of some procedures and diagnostic and therapeutic interventions;

Take part in health education,

– Handles health records (extracts, collects and opens new cards), completes patient identity data on health card and puts them on computer,

– Keeps proper medical records and documentation,

– Ensures for the correctness of the medical devices and instruments it operates,

– Participates in scientific research organized at the OU,

– Plans and registers patient reviews in special medical documentation,

-Is responsible for the timely and professional execution of work activities

– Promotes the interpersonal professional relationship with the employees in the OU regarding the dignity, reputation and honor of other employees in accordance with the positive regulations,

–  In Addition, performs other things that correspond to the level of professional preparation.

 

Health Care Worker- Dental Nurse

-Prepares instruments and all necessary material for work in practice,

– Sterilizes instruments and other necessary materials,

– Carries out control of the correctness of sterilizers and autoclaves with spores, within the timeframe provided by law,

Care for proper storage and distribution of medical waste,

– Takes precautions for the safe storage of work equipment and their use in practice,

– Takes precaution and is responsible for the preservation of the consumable material, instruments and water data for their consumption,

-Assists in the use of all methods for providing dental healthcare,

– Conducts and maintains the documentation and recordings described,

– Works with health cards (publishes, collects and opens new cards), complements patient identity data on health card and puts them on computer,

Keep records and proper medical documentation,

-Fosters professional interpersonal relationships with employees who respect the dignity, reputation and honor of other employees.

Health Care Worker- Laboratory Technician

 – Sterilizes working instruments,

 – Prepares all the assisting tools for carrying out all necessary laboratory tests,

– Makes preparations of the tested material, does the coloring of prepared supplements,

– Perform all photographic work about his doubts and his karyotype,

– Perform anthropometric measurements of respondents,

With its core activity – the protection and promotion of the mental health of children and young people – it carries out primary and secondary health care for children from the earliest age, pre-school children, school children, teenagers up to 26 years with their families. With the multidisciplinary team consisting of doctors specialists and various profiles of health care associates, this institution is the only one of its kind in the Republic of Macedonia. Here, our patients receive early diagnosis and early treatment and rehabilitation of conditions and difficulties that deviate from the expected physiological development for a specific calendar age in children, especially for children with autism and other widespread disorders.

In the structure of MHI “Mladost” there is a cytogenetic laboratory with medical-genetic counseling where recognized methods for improvement are implemented, the study and the introduction of new methods reveal the numerical and structural deviations of the blood chromosomes, diagnosing and prevention of psychological and physical disability.

Preparations for the introduction and application of the FICH methodology are in process for which we have complete laboratory equipment. Persons who have a mental disability or who have serious hereditary disorders in the family, according to the Marriage Law, can only marry after a cytogenetic analysis at this institution. This Institute’s function enables early diagnosis, treatment, treatment and rehabilitation of mental health problems for children and young people by offering more advanced and more professional work in the field of mental health and conditions for further improvement, development and further expansion of this kind of health care.

– Personal education and education of teachers and pedagogues in the educational system to work with children with special needs and involve them;

-It treats various personality disorders, marginalized personalities, suicide problem and suicide attempts at adolescent age, as well as addictions and those who suffer from other addictions,

Doctor of Dentistry – Specialist

– Ensures the required conditions and prepares the requests for the supply of materials suitable for performing mechanisms in the field of dentistry,

-Takes care of  the accuracy of the dental machine and the sterilization of instruments and materials,

-Application of modern methods of diagnosis and therapy,

– Undertakes measures for safe keeping of working tools and for their use in practice,

-Takes measures and is responsible for the safe storage of consumption, instruments and data on their consumption,

-Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures,

-Performs preventive dental care by applying preventative methods, systematic preventive examinations,

Health Associate – Psychologist , Specialist of Medical Psychology

-The center, in its practice, the specialist of medical psychology focuses on carrying out a psychological assessment, carrying out psychological interventions and psychotherapy.

-In his work he uses a systematic approach, which means working with the identified patient (children, young people) in the context of ego-space and his family.

-Evaluates and implements appropriate therapeutic procedures for children and young people with anxiety, emotional, psychotic and widespread disorders as well as personality disorders, while providing appropriate interventions and counseling for parents and other members as needed.

– Participates in the assessment of children with developmental psychomotor, linguistic disorders, regarding their psychosocial and emotional development, children with problems in the school curriculum,

– Individually prepares and provides medical documentation from the aforementioned commissions – diagnosis and opinion on the deployment of persons with developmental disabilities with parent / guardian interpretative assistance for родителот / старателот for further social referral and protection of patient rights in accordance with legislation, where special evidence is also provided for people with developmental disabilities.

 -Independently evaluates pre-earned knowledge as well as the emotional and social maturity of children to start school,

– Participates in multidisciplinary teamwork with his independent opinion,

independently applies tests to detect and diagnose specific difficulties in reading, writing and computing,

– independently performs the individual corrective treatment of children with learning difficulties in reading and writing,

– Independently carries out individual correctional treatment for children with specific difficulties in reading and writing (dyslexia and disortography),

-Independently performs individual and group correctional treatment for children with difficulty in calculating

– Treats psychosomatic disorders and their impact on the somatic diseases and emotional health of the individual,

– Takes part in working with children and young people and their families at the request of other institutions (Center for Social Work, Schools and others) and prepares a statement and opinion on their needs,

-Perform counseling, therapeutic interventions and psychotherapy for children, adolescents and, if necessary, their parents,

– Participates in system-based therapeutic interventions in children and adolescents under psychopathological conditions as well as reaction of dysfunctional family relationships

– Participates in the preparation of expert reports,

Cooperates with other members of the expert team, as well as with other professional institutions,

Health Assistant –  Speech Therapist

– Performs the speech logopedic diagnosis of verbal communication disorders (voice, speech, language, lexical and hearing difficulties) from the aspect of understanding the utterances of children and young people, and prepares a written opinion for each individual patient.

-Finds methods for removing difficulties in verbal communication in some patients or gives an opinion on the onset of speech therapy,

-Programs and implements individual and group therapy regeneration,

-Creates a journal and keeps track of the course of work, problem and results achieved,

-Performs appropriate therapeutic work with parents or close family members of patients,

– Cooperates with other members of the professional team, as well as with other professional institutions, preschools, schools and so on.

-Prepares a plan and a report for his work and submit it to the competent service,

Health Worker – Nurse

-Operates with medical equipment placed in the cabinet for border cases and EEG,

-Preparation of the patient for the recording and treatment of the EEG device, calibration and patient registration,

– Helps the doctor in the implementation of some procedures and diagnostic and therapeutic interventions;

Take part in health education,

– Handles health records (extracts, collects and opens new cards), completes patient identity data on health card and puts them on computer,

– Keeps proper medical records and documentation,

– Ensures for the correctness of the medical devices and instruments it operates,

– Participates in scientific research organized at the OU,

– Plans and registers patient reviews in special medical documentation,

-Is responsible for the timely and professional execution of work activities

Health Care Worker- Dental Nurse

-Prepares instruments and all necessary material for work in practice,

– Sterilizes instruments and other necessary materials,

– Carries out control of the correctness of sterilizers and autoclaves with spores, within the timeframe provided by law,

Care for proper storage and distribution of medical waste,

– Takes precautions for the safe storage of work equipment and their use in practice,

– Takes precaution and is responsible for the preservation of the consumable material, instruments and water data for their consumption,

-Assists in the use of all methods for providing dental healthcare,

– Conducts and maintains the documentation and recordings described,

– Works with health cards (publishes, collects and opens new cards), complements patient identity data on health card and puts them on computer,

Health Care Worker- Laboratory Technician

 – Sterilizes working instruments,

 – Prepares all the assisting tools for carrying out all necessary laboratory tests,
